August 31 to September 6, 2008 - Anniversary Trip to California

Kathy and I went to California for our 5th anniversary. We spent the first few days in San Francisco, being a tourist and visiting with Therese Bogan. The weather all week was beautiful. We went to a few festivals - Freemont Antique Show, Millbrae (street fair with mostly vendors) and Sausalito Art Festival (great art). We then spent several days at the Doubletree Hotel in Rohnert Park is Sonoma Valley (great quiet place). We went to many wineries. Here are some of our favorites - Matanzas Creek Winery, Taft Street, Porter Creek, Mill Creek, Paradise Ridge. Note - when visiting winery tasting rooms that require a tasting fee, pay for only 1 glass and share. We went to around 6 places and ended up almost drunk sharing a glass. We had a nice lunch in Healdsburg and then went to the Petrified Forest (private business, small but neat). We took a long drive over to Calistoga in Napa Valley, but I couldn't talk Kathy into talking a mud bath. On the way back to San Francisco we stopped at the Muir Woods National Monument to see the Redwood trees. All in all it was a nice relaxing trip.
