October 5, 2013 - Jim Bogan Scholarship Award at University of Alabama

On October 5, 2013 - Kathy, Franci and Alan went to the University of Alabama to receive a certificate for the Jim Bogan Memorial Scholarship.
We watched a parade, then attended the award presentation and then went to the Alumni Tent for a late breakfast.

Speech - The Jim Bogan Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established by the family and friends of Jim Bogan in association with the East tennessee Alumni Chapter. Accepting the award are Jim's two daughers Kathleen Henderson and Frances Bogan and Christopher Lambert, President of the East tennessee Alumni Chapter. James J. Bogan was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1935 and graduated from graduated from St. George High School in Evanston, Illinois in 1953. He was awarded a basketball scholarship to the University of Alabama where he was a proud member of the 'Rocket Eight', a storied basketballprogram in the mid 1950's. Jim graduated from the University of Alabama in 1957 receiving his bachelors degree in College of Arts and Sciences. His business career was in the banking industry, but he was always active in his community through participation in the YMCA, Kiwanis, Youth Atletic Teams, Chamber of Commerce and Habitat for Humanity, while also serving as an advisory board for the University of Wisconsin, Parkside School of Business and Gateway Community College and several other municipal commissions. He was active in UA's 'A' Club, a past President of the East tennessee Alumni Chapter and served as a regional vice-president of the National Alumni Association Executive Committee from 2009 to 2012.
