August 23 to September 5, 2014 - Hawaii Vacation

We spent 2 weeks in Hawaii on vacation. A big thanks to Kathy's company for the extra week of vacation after 15 years of service. We were also really greatful for the world's best pet sitter - Dianne Whitaker.

Saturday August 23, 2014
Flight from Knoxville to Dallas-Fort Worth to Phoenix and then to Lihue, Hawaii. Lunch at Al Pastor Tacos. We checked into the Cliffs at Princeville using our RCI timeshare. Took a drive to Hanalei and saw a naked girl beside the road, but only had brain camera. Went to to Foodland in Princeville, had dinner and then crashed.

Sunday August 24, 2014
Laid around all morning and early afternoon. Walked around the resort. Went to Hanalei to purchase fresh local fish and had a great dinner.
Now we are ready for the adventures to begin.

Monday August 25, 2014
Up fairly early to go to Tunnels Beach for snorkeling. Tried to go to Na'Aina Kai Gardens and Kilauea Lighthouse, but both were closed.
So, we went to Anini Beach for more swimming and snorkeling.

Tuesday August 26, 2014
Trip around island to Koke'e State Park and Waimea Canyon. Snorkeling at Salt Pond Beach. Viewing of Kauai Spouting Hole.
Long tour of the Allerton garden at National Tropical Botanical Garden. Dinner at Mark's place.

Wednesday August 27, 2014
This was Waterfall viewing day. We saw Ho'opi'i "Henepipi", Opaeka'a and Wailua Falls. We also visited Queen's Bath.

Thursday August 28, 2014
Last vacation day in Kauai. Had to lay around after the trenous hiking on Wednesday. Went to Hanalei so Kathy could buy a shirt.
Then went to watch the sunset at Ke'e Beach (beautiful).

Friday August 29, 2014
Packed and drove to Lihue for flight to Big Island. Short flight to Honolulu, then to Kona. Dinner at Umeke's (great).
Checked in at Outrigger Royal Sea Cliffs, went to the pool and lazed around preparing for the next new adventures.

Saturday August 30, 2014 - 11th Anniversary
Day trip around south side of island - Black Sands Beach, Volcano National Park, Green Sands Beach and South Point

Sunday August 31, 2014
Snorkeling day at Honauanau "Two Steps" Beach and tour of Pu'uhonua o Honaunau National Park

Monday September 1, 2014
Day trip around north side of island - Best burger and shake ever, Waipio Valley lookout, Akaka Falls, Coconut Island (Hilo) and Mauna Kea Visitor Center

Tuesay September 2, 2014
Snorkeling day at Hapuna Beach State Park and Waialea Bay Park.
Traveled north to check out Mahukona Beach Park, Samuel M. Spenser Park and Mauna Kea Beach at Mauna Kea Beach resort.

Wednesday September 3, 2014
Alan in pain, lots of rain, so lazy day at the resort.

Thursday September 4, 2014
Alan sick, so another day at the resort

Friday September 5, 2014
Travel home today, but won't arrive until tomorrow. We hate the time change.

Saturday September 6, 2014
Arrived home 11am. Finally get a nap in our bed. Kathy "Loves!" the bed.
